What the area is
- The master developer is Dubai South, a government company; private developers also build here.
- Homes include apartments, townhouses and villas, many of them still under construction.
- Nearby are Expo City Dubai and the airport's logistics zones.
The airport and the plans
According to the Dubai Media Office (28 April 2024), the new Al Maktoum International terminal is designed for up to 260 million passengers a year, and the airport will be five times the size of today's DXB. Officials expect the project to create housing demand for more than a million people in Dubai South. These are plans; timelines and final figures of large projects can change.
Who it suits
- Off-plan buyers with a long horizon who accept that the area is still being built.
- People who work, or will work, at the airport, in logistics or at Expo City.
- Buyers who want a villa or townhouse in a new area rather than a central apartment.
