JLT (Jumeirah Lakes Towers) is an established district of residential and office towers around man-made lakes, across Sheikh Zayed Road from Dubai Marina. It is managed by the DMCC free zone, so homes sit next to many offices. JLT has two Red Line metro stations, including DMCC (called Jumeirah Lakes Towers until 2018).
What the area is
- A completed district: the towers are built and occupied, with lakeside walkways, cafés and ground-floor shops.
- Homes are mostly apartments from studios to large units, in towers of different ages.
- Offices of DMCC free-zone companies sit next to the homes.
Transport
The district runs along Sheikh Zayed Road, opposite Dubai Marina. The Red Line serves JLT with two stations; one was renamed DMCC in 2018. JBR beach and Dubai Marina are a few minutes away.
Who it suits
- Buyers who want to live or let in a finished area with a metro, without waiting for construction.
- People who work in DMCC or around Marina and Media City.
- Buyers of ready homes on the resale market.
What to check before buying
- The age and condition of the specific tower, and how well the building is managed.
- Service charge — older towers can differ noticeably; see the yearly cost of owning.
- View and floor: some units look over the lake or Marina, others at the next tower.
